It can be grown in hedgerows, as one of your perennials, as a border plant, or even in a hanging basket. It has beautiful blue flowers and a fun spiky leaf to complement your landscape. It can be grown in areas with hardiness zones of 8=10 if you prefer perennials and you can grow it annually in the other zones. It requires soil that is well-drained and full sun.
Mint Will Help Repel Mosquitoes
The sweet smell of mint is something that humans love but mosquitoes hate. This perennial can be used in your cooking and as ornamental. It has tiny pink, purple or white flowers and can grow as tall as 36″. It grows best in zones 8-10 and will become invasive, so you want to be very careful where it’s planted. It blooms during the summer and needs full sun – part shade.
Basil Helps to Repel Mosquitoes
Basil is another type of herb that you probably use in the kitchen. Along with enjoying it in dishes, it also has a very strong scent that will repel mosquitoes. This bushy annual can be grown in your flowerbed close to your porch, patio, or another outdoor seating area. It has beautiful green leaves that will balance wonderfully with some colorful flowers. It also can be grown in containers which you can put close to you when you’re sitting outside. It grows in well-drained, moist soil and in full sun. It also will grow in all of the regions.
