When was the last time that you thought about your gutters? If you haven’t thought about them in a while, chances are that you need to do some rain gutter maintenance. Below are some rain gutter maintenance tips to get you started.

Rain Gutter Maintenance Tips 1 – Clean Them Regularly

You should regularly clean your gutters every 3 or so months. This will ensure that the water is able to freely flow. Cleaning them out effectively means that you want to get out a ladder and use a scoop for scooping out the debris and leaves from the gutters. After they’re cleared take a hose and flush it out to test the water flow.

Rain Gutter Maintenance Tips 2 – Inspect the Downspouts for Any Clogs

Along with cleaning the gutters, it’s important to inspect the downspouts and make sure that they aren’t clogged. When there are clogs such as debris like dirt and leaves the water can’t flow out. this means that it backs up and spills over the gutters’ sides during storms.

Rain Gutter Maintenance Tips 3 – Do Necessary Maintenance

Walk around the house regularly and look at your gutters. Are you seeing signs of corrosion or rust? Are they dropping? Are you noticing cracks? If you’re seeing small gaps, holes, or cracks, these could be sealed using a gutter seal. However, if you have larger holes or cracks, chances are that you need to have them repaired.
